Tiverton Celebrates Parade

PARADE PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

STAGING LOCATION

Each participant is assigned a position number and staging area that is posted below. Additionally, at the bottom of this page is a map that shows you your staging area. Within your staging area, you will find a cone with your number on it. That is where you set up. There will be committee members present to assist you and we will also have paper copies that day to provide to you. 

IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

  1. When you get to the end of the parade route, we will NOT be able to provide transportation back up to the start. If you are walking, you can have a friend/family member pick you up in the Little Willow Parking Lot to take you back. If you have a group marching, you may want to meet at Little Willow early and leave a car behind on Old Main Road to bring you all back to the staging area.

  2. PLEASE KEEP THE PARADE MOVING – We don’t want huge gaps between entrants. If you would like to have your group stop in front of the commentator’s booth, please reach out to one of us as soon as possible and we will stop the parade when you arrive at the commentators. On the flip side, please give fellow participants about 10 feet of room for separation.  

  3. Although the parade starts at 10:00, please plan to arrive around 9:00 to ensure we have plenty of time to get everyone set up in their respective staging areas.

  4. Yes, you may pass things out to the crowd. I’m sure they will enjoy it.

  5. Be safe! Please drive extremely slow and carefully. There will be kids everywhere and we can’t stress enough the importance of safe driving.

  6. There will be a porta potty at location areas D1, P1, & P2 for your convenience.

  7. PLEASE BE PATIENT AS THE PARADE ENDS! We sometimes have people stop, causing a little bit of a backup but we will do our best to move things along as the parade finishes. If you are in a vehicle at the end of the parade, please continue moving as you pass by the volunteers at the end, so there is no bottleneck. DO NOT pass other parade entrants to escape!

  8. Your arrival at the staging areas should begin at 9:00 am. The staging areas are the North Tiverton Baptist Church parking lot (198 Main Rd),  Holy Ghost Church parking lots (316 Judson St), Pocasset School (242 Main Rd), and the large parking lot behind Pocasset School.  This year, we have also set up a drop-off location for parents dropping off children who are participating in the parade.  It will be located in the grassy field on the corner of Borden St. and Main Road (to the left of Family Ties).  There will be a sign there and committee members to assist with parking and drop off.  

  9. Judson Street will be CLOSED to all vehicles from Shove Street to Main Road UNLESS the vehicle is in the parade.  If you are assigned to a J Location, you must enter Judson Street from Shove Street. The officers will NOT let you in via Main Road. NO other vehicles will be allowed on Judson. If you need to park a car or drop someone off, do so on the neighboring streets or DROP OFF location.  

The staging areas are:

  • Holy Ghost Church parking lot and the sidewalk in front at 316 Judson St (J1, J2 & J3)

  • Pocasset School lining up around the school itself at 242 Main Rd (P1)

  • The large parking lot behind Pocasset School (P2) accessed via Shove St

  • North Tiverton Baptist Church parking lot at 198 Main Rd (D1) and TPD/TFD will also be on Main Road at the top of Judson St.

  • Drop Off Location (DROP OFF) - The grassy field on the corner of Borden St. and Main Road.  There will be a sign there and committee members to assist with parking and drop off.  We will also have an officer present to walk participants across Main Road prior to the parade. 
     

Ok – Now that we have all that stuff out of the way, let’s have a parade!!!!  Thank you again for your participation! We appreciate you taking time out of your weekend to show your Tiverton pride!
